- Uhde won a Canadian FEED study whose potential capacity expansion depends on a final investment decision.
Thyssenkrupp Steel received final revised funding terms for its tkH2Steel decarbonization project in Duisburg on Monday, November 2, 2026. The decision gives the company more flexibility in phasing in hydrogen as supply, infrastructure and costs develop.
GMK Center reported that the revised conditions allow the direct reduction plant to use a gradual hydrogen ramp-up. The long-term objective remains a transition to full hydrogen operation, while a new tender for long-term supply is expected to begin soon. The plant is designed for annual production of 2.5 million tonnes of directly reduced iron.
Engineering order adds industrial optionality
Thyssenkrupp Uhde was selected for a front-end engineering design study at CF Industries' Courtright complex in Ontario, Canada. The proposed urea liquor upgrade plant could add more than 400,000 short tons per year of diesel exhaust fluid capacity, subject to a positive final investment decision.
BC Insight said the award was announced on October 29 and that CF Industries expects the investment decision in 2027. The project would use underutilized carbon dioxide streams at the Ontario site.
