- Vertex expanded its commercial portfolio through the Crinetics acquisition.
- Management expects CASGEVY and JOURNAVX to generate at least 500 million US dollars in combined 2026 revenue.
- Povetacicept is under priority review for IgA nephropathy, with a November 30 target action date.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals reported third-quarter results on Monday, November 2, showing stronger sales across its cystic fibrosis portfolio and newer medicines. In its financial release, the company said revenue for the three months ended September 30 rose 12 percent year over year to 3.44 billion US dollars.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals stock traded at 492.35 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 14:14 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The quote provides a current trading indication while the latest company results shift investor attention toward growth outside cystic fibrosis.
Revenue Growth Meets Higher Spending
US revenue increased 10 percent to 2.17 billion US dollars, while revenue outside the United States rose 16 percent to 1.27 billion US dollars. The CF portfolio remained the main contributor, with Trikafta and Kaftrio revenue of 2.44 billion US dollars and Alyftrek revenue of 705.8 million US dollars.
Newer products also added momentum. CASGEVY revenue reached 99.2 million US dollars, up from 16.9 million US dollars a year earlier, while JOURNAVX revenue rose to 58.3 million US dollars from 19.6 million US dollars. PALSONIFY contributed 10.1 million US dollars in September after Vertex completed its Crinetics Pharmaceuticals acquisition.
Reported profitability was affected by the transaction and the related investment cycle. GAAP net income fell to 653.6 million US dollars from 1.08 billion US dollars in the prior-year quarter, while non-GAAP net income was 1.21 billion US dollars versus 1.24 billion US dollars. Vertex said combined GAAP research and development, acquired in-process research and development, and selling, general and administrative expenses included roughly 500 million US dollars of compensation and transaction costs connected with Crinetics.
Guidance And Pipeline Catalysts
Vertex raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to 13.15 billion to 13.25 billion US dollars from 13.1 billion to 13.2 billion US dollars previously. The outlook includes at least 500 million US dollars from CASGEVY and JOURNAVX together, plus 40 million to 50 million US dollars from PALSONIFY.
The company also lifted combined non-GAAP research and development, acquired in-process research and development, and selling, general and administrative expense guidance to approximately 6.0 billion US dollars from 5.65 billion to 5.75 billion US dollars. Vertex attributed the increase mainly to Crinetics operations and integration. The release separately identifies stock-based compensation and acquisition-related costs as important differences between its GAAP and non-GAAP measures.
The next major event is the US Food and Drug Administration's target action date of November 30 for povetacicept in IgA nephropathy. Vertex said the treatment could establish nephrology as its fifth commercial franchise if approved. The company is also advancing programs in kidney disease, pain, type 1 diabetes, endocrine disorders and cystic fibrosis.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals stock investors will therefore weigh the raised sales outlook against higher spending and the execution risk of integrating Crinetics. The November FDA decision is the clearest near-term catalyst for the company's diversification strategy.
