- Volaris crossed USD 1 billion in quarterly operating revenue for the first time.
- Positive EBIT contrasted with a USD 26 million net loss and a lower EBITDAR margin.
- Fourth-quarter guidance points to continued capacity growth and an EBITDAR margin near 20%.
Volaris reported a stronger operating quarter on October 26, 2026, as quarterly revenue crossed the USD 1 billion mark for the first time. The ultra-low-cost carrier also returned to positive EBIT, although higher fuel and operating costs left the company with a net loss.
According to the Volaris financial release published by GlobeNewswire, third-quarter operating revenue rose 32.4% year over year to USD 1,038 million. Revenue per available seat mile increased 19.2% to 10.31 US cents, supported by a 25.5% increase in the average base fare.
Revenue growth meets cost pressure
Operating income reached USD 34 million, compared with USD 68 million in the prior-year quarter. The company nevertheless posted a net loss of USD 26 million, while total operating expenses increased 40.2% to USD 1,004 million. Average economic fuel cost rose 57.4% to USD 4.10 per gallon.
EBITDAR was USD 263 million, broadly stable year over year, but the EBITDAR margin fell to 25.3% from 33.6%. Volaris ended September with USD 823 million in cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments. The company said its net debt-to-LTM EBITDAR ratio stood at 3.3 times.
Fourth-quarter targets reset expectations
Volaris expects available seat miles to grow about 4% in the fourth quarter. Management guided for TRASM of about 10.90 US cents, CASM excluding fuel of about 6.50 US cents and an EBITDAR margin near 20%. For the full year, the company expects capacity growth of about 5%, an EBITDAR margin near 21% and capital expenditure of about USD 350 million.
For investors, the quarter points to improving pricing and demand, but also shows how fuel inflation and operating costs can absorb revenue gains. The next focus is whether Volaris can preserve its unit-revenue momentum while executing its fourth-quarter cost and capacity plans.
