Automation Reaches 25 Distribution Centers
According to the Symbotic press release, the expanded program covers 25 U.S. regional distribution centers and supports additional opportunities across Walmart's global supply chain. The initial commitment is approximately USD 6 billion over several years and multiple locations.
The planned capabilities include e-commerce upstream inventory management, higher storage capacity and faster movement of goods through the network. Symbotic said its solutions include BreakPack each-picking and SymMicro micro-fulfillment, supported by software that uses AI to coordinate warehouse operations.
