- Simon Nevitt took over as COO of wienerberger UK and Ireland on November 1 after Keith Barker's planned retirement.
- wienerberger expects 2026 operating EBITDA of 640 million to 650 million euros after weak residential construction and higher input costs weighed on demand.
- The company will publish its first nine-month results and update its strategic review on November 12.
Simon Nevitt took over as chief operating officer of wienerberger UK and Ireland on Sunday, November 1, succeeding Keith Barker after a planned retirement. The company announced the succession on October 22, while Barker will remain through December to support the handover, according to wienerberger UK and Ireland.
Wienerberger stock traded at 16.48 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:10 CET on Monday, November 2, 1.54 percent above the Xetra close of 16.23 euros on Friday, October 30, based on Yahoo Finance. The quote was ahead of the next major company event, the first nine-month results due on November 12.
Succession adds continuity in UK market
Nevitt has spent eight years with wienerberger and previously served as operations director and chief development officer. His appointment is an internal succession rather than an external change of direction. The new COO said his priorities include supporting customers, investing in employees and developing the wall, roof, water and heating businesses.
Barker is leaving after more than 16 years with wienerberger UK and Ireland, including nine years leading the unit. The transition therefore preserves operational continuity while construction markets remain difficult. For investors, the immediate question is whether the regional leadership team can protect customer relationships and improve execution while demand remains uneven.
Weak demand keeps pressure on outlook
In its October 6 trading update, wienerberger said residential new-build activity remained under pressure in the UK, the United States and Canada. Renovation and infrastructure were comparatively more stable, but lower demand and plant utilization affected several areas. The company also cited significant increases in energy, raw-material and logistics costs from the end of August.
Management expects third-quarter revenue of 1.2 billion to 1.3 billion euros and operating EBITDA of 170 million to 180 million euros. These are company expectations rather than reported results. Full-year operating EBITDA guidance was reduced to 640 million to 650 million euros, while interim CEO Gerhard Hanke said accelerated cost optimization and a strategic review were under way.
The November 12 release will show how much of the cost pressure reached the income statement and whether efficiency measures are beginning to offset weaker volumes. Wienerberger also plans to update investors on the strategic review and accelerated cost optimization initiatives on that date.
The broader Austrian market context is covered in current ATX market reports.
