AEX closes 0.6 percent higher as Besi leads chips

The AEX closed at 1,140 points on October 27, 2026, gaining 7 points or 0.6 percent. Besi surged 11.4 percent after Applied Materials said it would raise its stake from 9 percent to 20 percent, IEX reported.

Chip stocks drove the advance. ASMI rose 5.0 percent before its quarterly results, while ASML gained 2.8 percent, according to IEX.

Consumer goods, basic materials and technology shares led the market, Investing.com said. Breadth was positive, with 62 stocks advancing, 29 declining and 12 unchanged. AEX volatility was flat at 21.09.
