- The ATX closed the Vienna session on November 4 at 6,518.52 points, up 1.91 percent.
- The gain followed a previous-session close of 6,396.13 points and amounted to 122.39 points.

The ATX ended Wednesday's trading session on the Vienna Stock Exchange at 6,518.52 points. The index gained 122.39 points, or 1.91 percent, compared with the previous session's close of 6,396.13 points. The official ATX index page of the Vienna Stock Exchange records the closing value at 17:50:01 Berlin time on November 4, 2026.
Banks drive the advance
Bank shares were the principal support for the Austrian benchmark during the session. In its report on the midday market, Kleine Zeitung said BAWAG, Erste Group and Raiffeisen Bank International were among the strongest large-cap contributors, with gains of between 4.6 and 6.7 percent at that point in the session. The newspaper linked the broader European strength in banks to positioning shifts from technology shares and US equities into European value stocks, as well as higher expectations for European Central Bank rates.
Mixed contribution from large caps
The move was not uniform across the index. AT&S, Lenzing and voestalpine were also reported among the stronger names during the day. Lenzing advanced ahead of its quarterly results, while OMV gained only modestly as lower oil prices weighed on the oil and gas company. The contrast illustrates the sector mix of the ATX: financial stocks benefited from the day's rotation, whereas energy exposure acted as a partial counterweight.
Investor focus turns to earnings
Company-specific news was relatively limited in Vienna on Wednesday. The next important domestic earnings appointments cited in the market coverage were Mayr-Melnhof, Lenzing, Verbund and AT&S, which were scheduled to report quarterly figures on Thursday. For investors, the ATX's strong daily advance therefore reflected a combination of sector rotation and the wider European market tone, with upcoming company results set to provide fresh individual catalysts.
