Sector weakness shapes the session
Investing.com reported that losses in consumer goods, basic materials and financials pushed Belgian equities lower. The move followed a strong previous session: Euronext data showed the BEL 20 had closed at 6,015.09 points on Thursday, November 5, after gaining 0.60%.
Melexis leads gainers
Among the index constituents cited in the closing report, Melexis rose 1.71% to 53.40, followed by Montea, which gained 1.17% to 69.40. Aedifica added 0.84% to 65.65.
Aperam was the weakest performer, falling 3.85% to 33.00. Syensqo dropped 2.91% to 76.70, while D'Ieteren Group declined 2.03% to 178.60. The session's breadth was negative, with 59 Brussels-listed stocks down, 31 higher and 10 unchanged, according to the same Investing.com report.
What investors should watch
The Friday decline marks a modest pullback after Thursday's record-setting advance. The index-level move alone does not establish a lasting change in trend; investors will need to assess whether sector weakness persists in the next Brussels session and whether the strongest recent contributors regain momentum.
