Turkey's BIST 100 index recovered from an unsettled start and closed Monday, November 2, 2026, at 10,961.67 points. The benchmark gained 202.11 points, or 1.88%, compared with Friday's close at 10,759.56 points.
CNBC-e reported that the index initially fluctuated under selling pressure and reached an intraday low of 10,626.34 points before recovering in the afternoon. The session ended with a total equity-market turnover of 112.8 billion Turkish lira, according to Star.
Banking and transport lead gains
Sector performance was strongest in areas that had been highlighted during the recovery. The banking index rose 4.24%, while the holding-company index gained 2.12%. Transport was the best-performing sector, advancing 6.80%. Securities investment trusts were the weakest group, falling 3.87%, according to Star's report.
The market rebound followed a difficult previous session: the BIST 100 had lost 3.64% on Friday. Investing.com identified transport, banking and food and beverage shares as leading the gains at the Istanbul close. The report also recorded a mixed breadth picture, with 318 declining stocks against 294 advancing stocks and 26 unchanged.
Inflation data next in focus
Market attention now turns to Turkey's inflation release scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, alongside international economic data. Star reported that global sentiment was supported by hopes for an agreement between the United States and Iran, lower oil prices and a recovery in technology shares, although concerns about the US election process and the profitability of artificial-intelligence investment kept the broader mood cautious.
The close marks a substantial one-day recovery, but the intraday low and the still-mixed market breadth underline the volatility surrounding the index. The BIST 100's next direction will depend on how investors assess domestic inflation data and wider risk appetite. Further coverage is available on the BIST 100 topic page.
