BIST 100 gains 0.33 percent as mining leads Friday rebound

BIST 100 rose 0.33 percent to 12,254 points at 1:00 p.m. TRT on October 9, extending Thursday's advance as mining shares led the Istanbul market. The index opened at 12,265 points, up 0.42 percent from the previous close, according to Anadolu Agency.
Mining leads as the index holds above 12,200 points
The index traded between 12,223 and 12,332 points during the first half, according to Canli Gaste. Trading volume reached 50.3 billion Turkish liras, while 79 BIST 100 constituents advanced, 19 declined and two were unchanged.
Mining was the strongest sector, gaining 3.39 percent. Financial leasing and factoring was the weakest, falling 5.12 percent, while banking declined 0.36 percent and holding companies lost 0.98 percent, Sabah reported.
Industrial output contracts before U.S. data
Turkey's industrial production fell 1.9 percent year over year in August and 1.0 percent month over month, according to Trading Economics. The release showed manufacturing output down 2.5 percent, while mining and quarrying output rose 1.7 percent.
What comes next: The University of Michigan's preliminary October consumer sentiment, expectations and inflation-expectations data are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. TRT on October 9. The sentiment consensus is 47.6, compared with a September reading of 48.1, according to ForInvest.
