BUX closes higher as OTP leads a 2,734-point rally

BUX closed at 146,630 points on October 27, 2026, up 2,734 points or 1.9 percent. The advance followed OTP's late reversal, with the bank ending 3.5 percent higher, Portfolio said.

OTP was the strongest major BUX stock at the close. Mol also rose 1.0 percent after seeking a 133 billion HUF refund of previously paid carbon-quota tax and interest, Portfolio reported.

Why did BUX rise 1.9 percent?

The index recovered from an early decline as OTP turned higher. The bank had been down more than 1 percent after the open before moving into a gain of more than 3 percent by the close. The move gave the BUX its strongest lift, Portfolio wrote.

BUX movers: OTP leads, Richter lags

OTP gained 3.5 percent, while Mol added 1.0 percent. Richter was the only major blue-chip decliner, falling 0.1 percent. The Budapest market recorded 35.4 billion HUF in turnover, and the leading stocks finished above their previous-day closing prices except Richter, Economx reported.

BUX began the session at 143,351 points, down 0.4 percent, before the afternoon recovery. It finished 2,734 points above its October 26 close of 143,896 points. The closing gain was 1.9 percent.
