- DTCC launched its tokenization service on October 28, with the Canton Network among its initial blockchain integrations.
- Twenty DTC participants have signed agreements to access the service, while tokenized securities retain the rights and protections of their traditional counterparts.
- CC traded at 0.096745 USD on October 29 at 10:11 UTC, down 3.69 percent from the October 28 UTC close.
- Universal burn was approved on October 21, but implementation is planned for the first quarter of 2027 and current minting still exceeds burning.
The Canton price was 0.096745 USD on October 29, 2026, according to CoinPaprika, whose data was updated at 10:11 UTC. That was 3.69 percent below the verified October 28 UTC close of 0.100447 USD. CoinPaprika also reported a 4.98 percent 24-hour decline, a market capitalization of 3.81 billion USD and 24-hour volume of 13.31 million USD.
DTCC puts Canton into production
The main recent development is the October 28 launch of the DTCC Tokenization Service. In its official announcement, DTCC said eligible users can create tokenized representations of securities held by its Depository Trust Company subsidiary. The tokens can be converted between traditional and tokenized forms, transferred to eligible digital wallets and retain the ownership rights, investor protections and economic entitlements of the underlying securities.
The service currently integrates the Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu network. Twenty DTC participants have signed access agreements, including Bank of America, Citi, Fidelity Investments, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, State Street and UBS. DTCC said the initial regulatory authorization covers Russell 1000 constituents, major-index exchange-traded funds and U.S. Treasury securities.
Usage potential, but no token mandate
For CC holders, the institutional rollout is relevant because it can create a larger setting for regulated activity on Canton. It is not, however, a direct demand commitment for the token. DTCC's announcement does not say that users must hold CC or use it as a settlement asset, and the parallel Besu deployment has no public network token. The Canton price therefore still depends on whether network activity eventually translates into token demand rather than merely increasing the network's visibility.
Burn decision remains a future catalyst
Separately, Super Validators approved the Universal Burn framework on October 21. CryptoTicker reported that dedicated synchronizers are expected to burn CC for network traffic instead of paying a software license fee, but the roadmap places the start in the first quarter of 2027. The same report says the network currently mints about twice as much CC as it burns. That means the change could slow supply growth, but it does not establish scarcity today.
CoinPaprika listed 39.39 billion CC in circulation and an all-time high of 0.194621 USD from February 3, 2026. The market data puts the token about 50.29 percent below that peak. Investors should therefore separate the network's institutional adoption milestones from the still-unproven effect on CC's supply and demand.
