Hoodi loses its October 26 activation
The Ethereum Foundation said on October 22, 2026, that developers postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade on Hoodi, an Ethereum test network used to evaluate protocol changes before wider deployment. The decision removed the planned Amsterdam execution-layer activation and Gloas consensus-layer activation from the October 26 configuration.
The same update removed the schedule that would have raised Hoodi's gas limit to 200 million. Gas measures the computational and storage work a transaction consumes. The CoinDesk report on October 23, 2026, said the review concerns how proposed EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 gas-accounting changes could affect existing smart contracts when transactions fail.
