- The Ethereum Foundation postponed the next Glamsterdam step on the Hoodi testnet after identifying smart contract compatibility risks.
- EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 would change gas charging for certain operations and state access, potentially invalidating assumptions used by some applications.
- Investing.com displayed Ether at 2,231 USD, with a 24-hour volume of 4.18 billion USD and a market capitalization of 271.86 billion USD.
Ethereum price is entering a fresh development checkpoint. The Ethereum Foundation has delayed the next Glamsterdam hard-fork step on the Hoodi testnet after testing identified smart contract compatibility risks. The pause does not represent a halt to the Ethereum network, and the Foundation has not announced a replacement activation date.
At the time of the check, Investing.com displayed Ether at 2,231 USD. The page showed a 24-hour volume of 4.18 billion USD, a market capitalization of 271.86 billion USD and a second-place market ranking. It also listed a 52-week range of 1,507.60 to 3,657.37 USD. These figures describe the checked market page and are not presented as a verified UTC daily close.
Why the Glamsterdam delay matters
In a November 6 update, the Ethereum Foundation said ChainSecurity had found projects that could become vulnerable after Glamsterdam because they rely on invariants that the proposed changes would break. EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 would revise how gas is charged for certain operations and how gas is charged for state.
The All Core Developers decision is to keep Hoodi from forking until the issues are resolved. The Foundation is working with ChainSecurity and Dedaub and has asked developers to inspect their contracts against the identified assumptions. Work on the later Hegota upgrade is continuing in parallel. The update did not provide a new Hoodi date, so a timetable should not be inferred.
ETF demand remains part of the backdrop
Market attention is also focused on institutional demand. Yahoo Finance reported that US spot Ether ETFs had not recorded a net inflow day since September 29 in the data it cited, while October saw 1.61 billion USD leave the funds. That flow picture is separate from the protocol engineering review and does not establish a direct cause for the price.
For investors, the next concrete signals are a revised Glamsterdam specification, resolution of the identified contract risks and a confirmed Hoodi testnet activation. Until then, the Ethereum price remains exposed to both market-demand signals and uncertainty around the upgrade schedule.
