The Ethereum price is set against a scheduled Hoodi test on October 26, 2026, when the Glamsterdam upgrade is due to activate at 17:42:48 UTC.

Hoodi test sets a 200 million gas limit

The Ethereum Foundation scheduled Glamsterdam for the Hoodi testnet at epoch 132,352 and slot 4,235,264 on October 26, 2026. A testnet is a practice network used to evaluate software before a live-network deployment. At activation, Hoodi's gas limit will rise to 200 million, according to the Ethereum Foundation.

The upgrade includes enshrined proposer-builder separation, which places part of block-building coordination inside the protocol, and block-level access lists, which identify state data that blocks will use. The Foundation's October 16, 2026 announcement says node operators must update their execution and consensus clients before the Hoodi activation.

Mainnet timing remains undecided

The October 26, 2026 schedule applies to Hoodi rather than an Ethereum mainnet launch. crypto.news reported that the test will examine block production, state access and gas changes before client teams choose a mainnet date. That distinction limits the direct network impact of the 200 million gas setting to the testnet on October 26, 2026.

Glamsterdam already activated on the Sepolia testnet on October 6, 2026. The Hoodi exercise is the next dated deployment in the published schedule, while the live network remains separate from the test configuration.
