ICE plans US perpetual markets as Hyperliquid price stays in focus

Intercontinental Exchange and Trade[XYZ] have agreed to pursue a US-regulated market for perpetual futures built on Hyperliquid infrastructure. The announcement, dated October 29, is the latest step in a proposed expansion from offshore, around-the-clock markets into a framework designed for US retail participation.
The Intercontinental Exchange said it would be the exclusive operator of Trade[XYZ] regulated markets and would establish a dedicated exchange and clearing structure. The planned contracts would reference crypto, equities, equity indices, commodities and currencies. The proposed retail business would remain separate from ICE's institutional futures franchise.
Approval remains the key condition
ICE and Trade[XYZ] intend to seek the regulatory permissions needed to operate the venue, including approvals related to leveraged trading. The companies said verified customers would be expected to access the markets through participating futures commission merchants, brokers and platforms. Distribution through the ICE-OKX joint venture is also subject to that venture's own regulatory approvals.
Trade[XYZ] would design and implement the products, while Hyperliquid would provide the underlying infrastructure. ICE's announcement did not provide a launch date, contract list or final eligibility rules. It also said ICE's strategic investment in Trade[XYZ] was not expected to have a material impact on ICE's 2026 adjusted financial results, capital return or deleveraging plans.
HYPE remains a volatile token
At the time of review on October 30, the Investing.com HYPE/USD page displayed a price of 86.3740 USD at 12:25:59. The same page listed a 24-hour volume of 1.08 billion USD, a market capitalization of 22.05 billion USD and a rank of 9. These figures are a displayed market snapshot rather than a verified UTC day-close comparison.
A Crypto.news report timestamped October 29 cited HYPE at 93.74 USD at that point in the session, after the ICE announcement. The different readings reflect separate observation times and should not be treated as a single closing-price series. The report also said Trade[XYZ]'s proposed US market remained subject to regulatory approvals.
Infrastructure could broaden use cases
Hyperliquid describes itself as a layer-one blockchain supporting perpetual futures and spot trading, with HyperCore and HyperEVM secured by HyperBFT. Its official website says HYPE is the network's native token and is used for staking, governance, gas fees, trading-fee discounts and asset-deployment fees. The website also states that the token has a maximum supply of 1 billion.
For investors, the ICE proposal is strategically relevant because it connects Hyperliquid's on-chain market infrastructure with a major regulated-exchange operator. It is not yet a completed launch, however. Regulatory approval, market design, customer access and execution demand will determine whether the plan produces durable activity for the network and token.
