Monero data leak puts privacy infrastructure in focus as Monero price stays near USD 600

A confirmed Wagyu.xyz data leak has put off-chain privacy risks back in focus for Monero users. The Monero price remains near USD 600 while the FCMP++ upgrade continues testing without a mainnet date.

What XMR Investors Need to Know

  • Wagyu.xyz confirmed a data leak involving 4,580 completed Monero swap orders and associated IP addresses.
  • The incident affected a service provider's records, not Monero's blockchain or cryptography.
  • FCMP++ stressnet version 3.1 fixed a test-network inflation vulnerability, while no mainnet activation date has been announced.
  • Monero traded near USD 600 on November 2 after a volatile week between USD 572.49 and USD 649.40.

Monero is facing a privacy-risk distinction that matters for investors: a confirmed data leak at the swap service Wagyu.xyz exposed customer records, but did not compromise the Monero blockchain itself. At the same time, the project continues testing a major privacy upgrade while XMR trades near USD 600.

CryptoTicker reported on November 2 that Wagyu had confirmed a leak involving 4,580 completed Monero swap orders. According to figures attributed to security firm Hudson Rock, the broader dataset contains 38,628 order records and 10,139 unique IP addresses from July 18 through October 26, 2026. In 1,011 Bitcoin-to-Monero orders, the deposit transaction, receiving address and IP address appeared together.

Service provider risk, not protocol failure

The exposed information came from Wagyu's order management rather than from Monero's blockchain. CryptoTicker said Hudson Rock found no weakness in Monero's cryptography. The main investor-relevant risk is therefore targeted phishing and the possibility that off-chain records could link a swap to a receiving address and an IP address. The report also noted that the number of records does not equal the number of affected individuals, because shared networks, VPNs and repeat orders can create duplicates.

FCMP++ remains in the testing phase

Monero's development roadmap also produced a dated update on October 26, when version 3.1 of the FCMP++ and Carrot stressnet was released. CryptoTicker reported that the test-network release closed a detectable inflation vulnerability involving Carrot outputs, added denial-of-service protection for transaction relay and improved wallet synchronization. Hardware wallets, multisig and transaction proofs were not yet supported on that stressnet. No date for activation on the Monero mainnet has been announced.

The project's official website describes Monero as a private, decentralized cryptocurrency. For investors, the distinction between protocol privacy and service-provider data handling is central: stronger transaction privacy does not prevent a third party from retaining identifying information.

Price remains volatile near USD 600

The Investing.com market snapshot displayed XMR at USD 608.082 at 07:18:28, with a market capitalization of USD 11.42 billion, 24-hour volume of USD 111.61 million and rank 12. CryptoTicker reported that Monero traded around USD 600 early on November 2, after moving between USD 572.49 and USD 649.40 during the preceding week. That range shows why the Monero price should be assessed alongside liquidity and leverage rather than as a straight-line response to the data leak.

Investors are consequently balancing three separate factors: a service-provider security incident, continued work on Monero's privacy architecture and substantial short-term volatility. The leak did not represent a protocol breach, but it underlined the operational risks surrounding access to privacy-focused assets.
