Rising Treasury yields and Federal Reserve minutes pointing to another rate increase before year-end pressured technology shares, according to Reuters.
Yields and Fed signals shape the retreat
The 10-year Treasury yield reached 5.365 percent during Wednesday's session, its highest level since April 2002, while the 30-year yield reached 5.732 percent. Yields eased after the Treasury sold USD 39 billion of 10-year notes, helping the index recover from its session low, CNBC reported.
The Federal Reserve's September meeting minutes said most participants considered another increase in the federal funds target range appropriate by year-end. The minutes gave no specific timing for that move.
Technology shares remain in focus
The Nasdaq Composite opened at 27,431 points and finished 108 points higher. Among named constituents, Apple rose 0.91 percent and Amazon gained 1.40 percent, while CrowdStrike fell 4.81 percent and Meta Platforms declined 2.38 percent, according to HDFC Sky.
