- NEAR governance approved a plan to reduce maximum annual issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months.
- The change is not yet binding and still requires review, a grace period and validator adoption.
- Kinzan recorded a November 7 daily close of 3.704 USD, while Investing.com listed a 24-hour range of 3.6352 to 3.8135 USD.
NEAR Protocol price is being assessed against a governance decision that would reduce the network's maximum annual token issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months. The vote advances the proposal, but it does not activate the lower ceiling immediately.
Governance vote changes the outlook
NEAR's House of Stake approved HSP-029 after a vote announced by the network on November 2. The proposal changes one protocol parameter and keeps the existing distribution of newly issued tokens: 90% to staking participants and 10% to the protocol treasury. According to Unchained, the reduction would be phased in by roughly 3.75 basis points per month until the 1.6% target is reached in month 24.
Implementation remains several steps away
The lower issuance rate is not yet binding. The House of Stake Security Council must review the result before ratification. A grace period of roughly 90 days would then apply, and validators would still need to adopt a protocol upgrade. The governance vote therefore marks a completed decision stage rather than the start of the new issuance schedule.
The proposal estimates that the phased reduction could prevent 11.8 million NEAR from entering circulation during the first two years and 66.1 million over six years. It also projects gross staking yield declining from 5.268% to 3.372% if staking participation remains unchanged. That creates a trade-off for investors: slower potential dilution for holders, but lower projected issuance-based rewards for stakers.
Price data shows a volatile backdrop
For a dated market reference, Kinzan recorded a November 7 daily close of 3.704 USD and quoted NEAR at 3.70 USD at 13:06 UTC that day, down 0.47% over the preceding 24 hours. The same source reported 20-day volatility of 5.61%, underscoring that supply reform alone does not define the token's short-term risk profile.
The checked Investing.com page listed NEAR/USD at 3.7131 USD, a 24-hour volume of 536.80 million USD and a market capitalization of 4.88 billion USD. Investors should distinguish this market snapshot from the still-pending tokenomics change. The project's official website describes NEAR as a sharded proof-of-stake network focused on cross-chain execution and agent-oriented infrastructure.
What investors should watch
For the NEAR Protocol price, the next material milestones are Security Council review, ratification, the grace period and validator adoption. Until those steps are completed, the 2.5% maximum issuance rate remains the operative ceiling. The supply reform may improve the long-term dilution profile, while its effect on staking economics and demand will depend on implementation and continued network usage.
