The Shanghai Composite closed at 3,813 points on October 9, 2026, up 0.05 percent from the previous session, as gains in film and television, precious metals, cybersecurity and brokerage shares offset weakness in technology-linked sectors, Xinhua reported.
The index finished 1.89 points above its previous close of 3,811.90, according to MarketWatch. The session followed a sharp early decline in mainland technology shares after an overnight selloff in US artificial-intelligence stocks, while later trading saw investors focus on China-EU trade discussions, Trading Economics reported.
Sector rotation shapes the close
Film and television, precious metals, cybersecurity and brokerage shares led the advance. Computing hardware, wind-power equipment, semiconductors and banks were among the weakest sectors, according to Xinhua.
What comes next
China is scheduled to release September M0, M1 and M2 money-supply figures, total social financing and new renminbi loans on October 12, followed by September CPI, PPI and trade data on October 14, Lundgreen's Investor Insights reported.
