- The TA-35 closed at 4,144.40 points on Thursday, October 29, 2026, up 0.34 percent.
- Biomed, oil and gas, and banking stocks supported the index, while market breadth remained slightly negative.
- Investors continued to monitor political uncertainty following Israel's inconclusive election results.
Israel's benchmark TA-35 index closed higher on Thursday, October 29, as the Tel Aviv market recovered part of the ground lost in the previous session. The index ended at 4,144.40 points, gaining 0.34 percent. Globes reported the closing level and said the broader TA-125 rose 0.10 percent.
Sector Gains Help Stabilize Trading
Thursday's advance was supported by gains in several key parts of the Israeli market. According to Globes, the Tel Aviv Biomed Index rose 4.59 percent, while the Oil and Gas Index gained 1.1 percent. Among large TA-35 constituents, Elbit Systems rose 3.03 percent, Bank Leumi gained 1.43 percent, Bank Hapoalim added 0.67 percent and Teva increased 0.87 percent.
The recovery came despite mixed market breadth. Investing.com reported that 249 stocks declined on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, compared with 222 advancers, while 87 shares were unchanged. The report identified Kenon Holdings, Navitas Petroleum and Elbit Systems among the session's stronger TA-35 performers. Palo Alto Networks, NICE and Menora Mivtachim were among the decliners.
Election Uncertainty Remains In Focus
The market remained sensitive to the political backdrop. Israel's exchange had suffered a steep decline in the previous session after partial election results indicated that neither major bloc was close to the parliamentary majority needed to form a government. Investing.com described Thursday's trading as a higher close, while its market summary also noted the continued focus on sector performance and the shekel.
For investors, the session points to stabilization rather than a clear resolution of the political risk premium. Further index direction is likely to remain linked to coalition negotiations, election-result updates and the performance of interest-rate-sensitive sectors such as banks and real estate.
