Bank shares led the decline as NBP Governor Adam Glapinski said a November rate increase was possible, although he did not expect one, Fakt reported.
At 11:05 a.m. CEST, mBank was down 3.4 percent, while Orlen gained 1.4 percent and Dino rose 2.8 percent, according to Strefa Inwestorow. The same update put the WIG Banki index down 2.2 percent at 10:55 a.m. CEST and identified energy shares and KGHM among the other drags.
Rate policy stayed at the center
The Monetary Policy Council held Poland's reference rate at 3.75 percent on October 7, as expected. The central bank had scheduled Glapinski's press conference for 3:00 p.m. CEST on October 8, Puls Biznesu reported.
