- A conditional November 4 amendment is designed to close a token-permission flaw on the XRP Ledger.
- The issue concerns certain issued tokens, including stablecoins, rather than XRP itself.
- Investing.com displayed XRP at 1.2792 US dollars, while the activation still depended on validator support.
The XRP Ledger is approaching a conditional protocol amendment designed to close a token-permission flaw that could allow some delegated accounts to create issued tokens they were only authorized to destroy. The issue has put the XRP price in focus, although the problem does not affect the native XRP supply.
Conditional activation on November 4
According to Yahoo Finance, the amendment known as fixCleanup3_4_0 was scheduled for a conditional activation at 14:46 UTC on November 4, 2026. The timing depended on validator support remaining above the required threshold through the full approval period. The amendment had previously been delayed after support fell below the required level on October 21.
The update addresses a weakness involving the delegated PaymentBurn permission. Under certain conditions, an account with that permission could create new trust line tokens or Multi-Purpose Tokens even though token creation should require separate authority. The reported exposure was limited to issuers that granted the permission despite warnings, and there was no publicly confirmed exploitation of the flaw.
Why the distinction matters
The issue concerns assets issued on the ledger, including stablecoins, rather than XRP as the network's native asset. The official XRP Ledger documentation describes trust line tokens and Multi-Purpose Tokens as separate fungible-token standards. For investors, the immediate relevance is therefore linked more closely to confidence in token issuance and institutional use of the ledger than to a direct change in XRP's maximum supply.
Price and market context
Investing.com displayed XRP at 1.2792 US dollars in its XRP/USD market snapshot, with a 24-hour volume of 1.86 billion US dollars and a market capitalization of 80.80 billion US dollars. The page showed XRP ranked fifth and listed 63.35 billion XRP in circulation against a maximum supply of 100 billion. These figures are a market snapshot and are not presented as a UTC daily close comparison.
The XRP price therefore remains a separate market signal from the amendment's technical timetable. Even if the fix activates as scheduled, the update does not itself create new XRP or guarantee additional demand. A further validator-support decline could delay the activation again, while the technical change would still need to be assessed alongside broader liquidity, adoption and regulatory factors.
