ASUS is facing renewed scrutiny over the movement of AI server hardware into China after Chinese financing records identified 32 servers made by the Taiwanese technology company and equipped with Nvidia B300 chips. The Edge Malaysia reported the findings on Sunday, November 1, citing documents reviewed by Bloomberg News.

The servers were part of a larger financing arrangement involving Semi-Tech Leasing Group and Glory View Technology. The documents covered more than 700 servers purchased through financing transactions, but only the 32 ASUS systems were specifically identified as using Nvidia Blackwell-family chips.

Compliance response takes center stage

US export rules restrict sales of advanced Nvidia chips to China without an explicit license. Nvidia said it was looking into the report and would work with its original-equipment-manufacturer customer to investigate. ASUS said in a statement that it is committed to strict compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including export controls.

The report does not establish that ASUS violated export rules. It does, however, highlight the compliance exposure facing hardware manufacturers as demand for AI infrastructure expands and server supply chains become more complex. The commercial impact will depend on the outcome of any investigation and on how customers and regulators assess the controls around sales and deployment.

AI infrastructure broadens ASUS exposure

ASUS says it is expanding across infrastructure, physical AI, AI PCs and devices, and engineering services. Its portfolio also includes the ROG gaming brand and ProArt products for creators, giving the company exposure to consumer, professional and data-center demand.

In personal computing and gaming hardware, ASUS competes with Lenovo, HP and Dell. ASUS is more specialized than those broad-based rivals in gaming and creator devices while extending its infrastructure offering through AI server systems.
