Banque Atlantique Senegal inaugurated its new headquarters in Dakar on October 1, 2026, reinforcing the West African presence of parent group Banque Centrale Populaire. The development was reported by 7News Morocco on October 16.
The new building brings Banque Atlantique Senegal's administrative operations together and is intended to support retail and corporate banking, digital services and project finance. The bank serves individuals, companies and other economic participants in Senegal, including small and medium-sized businesses.
Dakar supports regional banking strategy
BCP owns a 79.82 percent stake in Banque Atlantique Senegal. The wider group operates through Atlantique Business International across the eight countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union, giving the Dakar investment a regional role beyond the Senegalese market.
BCP's expansion is also linked to financing opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, trade and energy. In Senegal, the development of oil and gas activity is increasing demand for corporate banking, cash management and large-project financing, according to 7News Morocco.
Competitive position in Senegal
Banque Centrale Populaire is a Moroccan banking group with retail, corporate and regional African operations. Its Senegalese subsidiary focuses on local customer relationships and business finance while benefiting from the group's cross-border network.
In Senegal, Banque Atlantique competes with Societe Generale, CBAO Groupe Attijariwafa Bank and Ecobank. The market therefore combines established international and regional lenders, while BCP's position is differentiated by its wider West African network and Moroccan base.
