Hankook & Company Group Chairman Cho Hyun-bum used an October workshop with junior employees to call for a more bottom-up approach to organizational change. The Herald Business reported on October 14, 2026, that Cho spoke at the group's Junior Board workshop held from October 12 to 13.
Cho said corporate culture is not built through slogans but takes root when employees identify problems themselves and work to solve them. He argued that staff who go beyond assignments handed down by management are more likely to develop the motivation and commitment needed to implement solutions.
Focus on execution and leadership
The Junior Board is a talent-development and innovation program launched in 2022. It gives employees with six or fewer years of tenure the opportunity to identify improvements in company systems, organizational culture and work processes, then develop concrete alternatives.
The current cohort has 40 members, while Hanon Systems joined the program this year. At the latest workshop, participants debated previously proposed ideas in a conclave-style format and examined the conditions required to put them into practice. The session focused on the theme of Influence within the program's wider development framework.
Cho also encouraged employees to explore unfamiliar areas and build their own perspectives through experience across different fields. He said the group should preserve established strengths while modernizing them for current conditions. For investors, the event offers a view of management's stated priorities around employee participation and execution, but it does not by itself provide a new earnings outlook or a quantified financial target.
