- Food inflation, commodity costs and regulatory scrutiny remain key risks for the Indian business.
- The September quarter showed strong revenue growth and double-digit volume momentum.
Nestle is stepping up its focus on India as growth in convenience foods supports demand for Maggi noodles and KitKat chocolate. The Economic Times reported on October 22, 2026, that Nestle SA Chief Executive Philipp Navratil described India as a market with significant room for further penetration.
Nestle said 37% of urban Indian households buy Maggi noodles each month, up from 24% in 2016. The company is directing investment toward its major brands while also expanding Korean and ramen ranges to capture changing consumer preferences.
Strong growth, tougher cost backdrop
Nestle India recorded a 20% year-over-year increase in September-quarter revenue to 6,788 crore Indian rupees, according to The Economic Times. The report said food inflation and higher costs for edible oils, cocoa and sugar remain important concerns for the business.
The same report noted that Nestle India posted sales of 23,071.5 crore Indian rupees for fiscal 2026. It also said regulators had issued notices concerning labeling and product claims involving selected Nescafe and infant-food products. Nestle has said its products are safe to consume and comply with applicable food-safety requirements.
Business and competitive position
Nestle India manufactures and sells packaged food and beverages in India, including Maggi noodles, Nescafe coffee, dairy products, confectionery and infant nutrition under brands such as Cerelac and Nestum. Business Today identifies Gurugram, Haryana, as the company headquarters and describes its nationwide manufacturing footprint. Compared with Hindustan Unilever, ITC and Britannia Industries, Nestle India is more specialized in packaged food, beverages and nutrition rather than operating across a broader consumer-goods portfolio. Its competitive strength is concentrated in established brands and high-frequency food categories.
