- The combined group is using its broader customer base to deepen services for wealthy clients and families.
Taishin Bank opened a flagship private-banking branch in Kaohsiung on October 23, highlighting the wealth-management strategy of the combined Taishin-Shin Kong group. The move comes as management says the merger has taken the customer base above 11 million.
The expansion was reported by Yonhap News Agency. Taishin Bank said the Kaohsiung site is designed to serve high-net-worth clients in southern Taiwan and connect the country's wealth-management market with wider Asian and international opportunities.
UBP Adds International Expertise
Taishin Bank also signed a memorandum of understanding with Union Bancaire Privée, a Swiss family-owned private bank. The planned alliance is intended to support international investment, asset allocation and wealth-planning capabilities for wealthy clients.
The private-banking platform brings together wealth advisers, lawyers and accountants. Its family-office offering covers investment management, wealth transfer, tax services, family governance and lifestyle management, according to the Yonhap report.
For Shin Kong stock, the development keeps the post-merger integration in focus rather than providing a new earnings forecast. A broader customer base and a wider wealth-management proposition could support cross-selling, but the financial impact will depend on execution and the ability to convert scale into recurring fee income.
Financial Group With Broad Reach
Shin Kong Financial Holding is a Taiwan-based financial group with insurance, banking and securities activities, as reflected on the company website. Its insurance-led platform is complemented by commercial banking, securities and wealth-management services. The group is now being integrated with Taishin's banking and private-banking operations, while UBP provides an international specialist partnership rather than a direct ownership link.
Taiwan's broader financial-market backdrop can be followed through the TAIEX market reports.
