Stor-Age stock targets 160 properties as UK lessons shape expansion

- Stor-Age aims to expand its portfolio to 160 properties by 2030.
- Management is combining acquisitions, management contracts, joint ventures and balance-sheet development.
- The next results are expected in November, keeping occupancy and net asset value in focus.
A Financial Mail analysis published on Thursday, October 15, 2026, put Stor-Age's expansion strategy and operating model at the centre of the investment case. The company wants to grow to 160 properties by 2030, compared with 110 at the time of the report.
Management is pursuing several routes to growth, including acquisitions, management contracts, joint ventures and developments funded on its own balance sheet. The company is also considering expansion into another geography, although the timing will depend on opportunities and pricing.
UK experience informs local operations
Financial Mail reported that Stor-Age brought operating lessons from the more competitive UK market back to South Africa. The group uses its internally developed Digital First platform across its South African and UK operations and licenses it to third-party self-storage operators.
The platform covers about 300 facilities in 20 countries, according to the report. That international reach gives management broader operating comparisons while Stor-Age continues to focus on its two established markets.
November results bring new focus
The analysis said the next results were expected in November. Investors will be watching occupancy, rental growth and net asset value as the group balances expansion with the cyclical conditions affecting property markets.
