Tata Communications announced on October 29, 2026, a planned USD 400 million to USD 450 million investment in an AI-ready fiber network across India. The company said the project will connect major data-center and AI corridors and add around 10,000 kilometers of long-haul fiber. The announcement was published by PR Newswire on behalf of Tata Communications.

India network build targets AI demand

The first phase will focus on the Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad-Chennai corridor. Later phases are planned for data-center ecosystems including Vizag, Bhubaneswar, Jamnagar and GIFT City, with links to international cable landing stations.

The company said the network will provide high-capacity, low-latency connectivity for hyperscalers, neocloud providers, digital platforms, global capability centers and enterprises. Tata Communications also plans to integrate the new infrastructure with its global network backbone while continuing to expand its existing national long-distance and metropolitan networks.

Investment adds execution focus

The planned spending places execution and customer adoption at the center of the investment case. Tata Communications said demand is being driven by cloud adoption, artificial intelligence deployment, data-localization requirements and the need for resilient digital infrastructure. The announcement did not provide a single completion date for the full network.
