Bloom Energy’s stock has been on a tear — up more than 1,100% over the past twelve months — but the c-suite is cashing out while the ink dries on the company’s biggest financing deal yet. In the last 90 days, insiders have sold 220,274 shares worth roughly $57.34 million, with chief commercial officer Aman Joshi alone unloading 8,343 shares on July 1 at an average price of $300.37, pocketing about $2.51 million.

The timing is striking. Just one day before Joshi’s sale, Bloom Energy and Brookfield Asset Management announced they were expanding their financing partnership to a staggering $25 billion — five times the original $5 billion pact struck in October 2025. The capital will flow into Bloom’s solid-oxide fuel cells, which are being deployed to power AI data centers without relying on the grid. Brookfield is rolling the commitment into its multibillion-dollar AI infrastructure fund, betting that the technology’s rapid deployment can bypass the months- or years-long delays plaguing traditional grid connections.

Goldman Sachs estimates that US data-center power demand will more than double from 31 gigawatts in 2025 to 66 gigawatts by 2027. Bloom’s fuel cells work “behind the meter,” and an existing project with Oracle went from contract to first power delivery in just 55 days — a timeframe that has since been expanded to gigawatt-scale capacity. The company’s total backlog now stands at around $20 billion, underpinned by recent contracts with American Electric Power, Equinix, and Oracle.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bloom Energy?

That backlog helped drive a blockbuster first quarter. Revenue surged 130.4% year-over-year to $751 million, while earnings per share of $0.44 easily beat the analyst consensus of $0.12. For fiscal 2026, management is holding to its forecast of $3.4 billion to $3.8 billion in revenue and EPS of $1.85 to $2.25.

Wall Street remains split on the stock’s trajectory. UBS and Evercore ISI both maintain Buy ratings with $350 price targets, and some discounted cash flow models peg the fair value as high as $478 per share. But Zacks Research downgraded Bloom Energy to Hold on July 2, triggering a 6.3% single-day slide. The stock closed at €237.50 on Thursday, roughly 23% below its 52-week high of €308.50 set in late June. On the week it still managed a 7.22% gain, and it sits right at its 50-day moving average while trading 76% above the 200-day line.

Those bullish price targets collide with an already demanding valuation. The company’s market capitalization exceeds $75 billion, representing roughly 39 times trailing sales and more than 210 times forward earnings. The price-to-sales multiple alone — 31 times on the recent high — dwarfs the industry norm of about three times. The relative strength index of 47.6 points to neutral momentum after the recent record run, while short interest has climbed to 11% of the float, signaling that some traders are betting on a pullback.

Institutional ownership remains high at 77.04%, but the insider selling raises questions about whether management itself sees the current price as fully valued. Bloom Energy must now scale its modular manufacturing capacity fast enough to convert that $20 billion backlog into real revenue — and prove that its technology can keep feeding the AI data-center frenzy before the bears are proven right.
