Reaching a trillion-dollar market capitalization is a milestone reserved for an elite group of global corporations. Broadcom Inc. recently joined that club, propelled by strategic moves that secure its revenue pipeline deep into the next decade. The semiconductor giant's surge is fundamentally tied to its pivot toward custom artificial intelligence hardware, a shift now being cemented by key executive appointments and expanded partnerships.

Central to this long-term strategy is the extension of its cornerstone agreement with Google. The company has been confirmed as the lead designer for Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) through 2031. This roadmap includes the development of the v7 generation, codenamed "Ironwood," and its successors, v8 and v9. To maintain technological leadership in the custom ASIC segment, Broadcom is leveraging advanced 2-nanometer and 3-nanometer manufacturing processes alongside high-performance SerDes connections capable of 9.6 terabits per second.

Complementing this is a novel, triangular infrastructure partnership with AI startup Anthropic. This deal signals a broader industry shift away from general-purpose GPUs toward specialized, energy-efficient ASICs. Analysts view it as a strategic win that further insulates Broadcom from the volatile market for standard chips. Experts at Mizuho estimate this partnership alone could generate approximately $42 billion in AI-related revenue for Broadcom by 2027.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Broadcom?

The financial impact of this strategic focus is already materializing. The company's AI semiconductor division posted revenue of $8.4 billion in the first quarter, representing year-over-year growth of 106 percent. For the upcoming second quarter, management is targeting AI chip sales of $10.7 billion, which would mark a staggering 140 percent increase. Following these developments, analysts have revised their full-year forecasts upward, now expecting AI-specific revenue to exceed $25 billion.

This fundamental optimism has ignited a powerful rally on Wall Street. Strong sales data from contract manufacturer TSMC provided a final catalyst the previous week, driving Broadcom's shares up roughly 16 percent. The stock closed at 317.00 euros on Friday. The steep ascent has pushed the stock into technically overbought territory, with its Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading at 83.4. Some market observers, like Seaport Global Securities, have already responded by downgrading the stock to "Neutral," citing valuation risks after the AI-driven surge. The immediate technical resistance level is seen at $376.54, the recent peak before the weekend.

To steer this next phase of expansion, Broadcom is bringing in fresh financial leadership. Amie Thuener, formerly Chief Accounting Officer at Google-parent Alphabet, will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer. She officially begins work on May 4, 2026, and will formally take over the CFO post from Kirsten Spears on June 12, 2026. The recruitment package includes a base salary of $700,000 and a signing bonus of $1 million.

Looking ahead, Citigroup analysts believe these AI deals could propel Broadcom's total revenue beyond the $130 billion mark in the medium term. The company faces several near-term milestones, including its Annual General Meeting in Palo Alto on April 20, 2026, where shareholders will vote on a new long-term CEO compensation package. The upcoming quarterly report will be scrutinized for confirmation that the company hit its ambitious overall revenue target of $22 billion for Q2, providing fundamental support for its lofty valuation. While risks such as potential export control tightening and the high capital demands of 2-nm production remain, Broadcom's path is now clearly charted toward the AI infrastructure of the future.
