BYD Investors Get a Dividend Date and a 1,000-Kilometre Flagship in the Same Week

BYD is serving up a rare double helping for shareholders this month: a confirmed dividend payment lands on 31 July, and just days later the company will pull the wraps off its most ambitious luxury saloon yet at the Chengdu Motor Show. The timing underscores a broader strategic push to marry financial returns for investors with a product offensive aimed squarely at the premium end of the electric-vehicle market.
The Da Han Arrives With a Three-Variant Line-Up
The new Da Han, first teased on Chinese social media platform Weibo, represents BYD’s boldest attempt yet to crack the upper echelons of the EV saloon segment. Positioned above the existing Han model, it becomes the first D-segment flagship in the Dynasty series. Sales chief Lu Tian described the design language as “sharpness in stillness,” with luxury expressed through simplicity.
Three powertrain options will be available. The single-motor battery-electric version delivers 370 kW and achieves a CLTC-rated range of up to 1,008 kilometres, powered by a 102.3-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate Blade battery. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant pairs a 200-kW front unit with a 370-kW rear motor, offering 880 kilometres of range. A plug-in hybrid completes the line-up, using a 54.489-kWh battery for up to 370 kilometres of pure-electric driving.
The saloon measures 5,256 millimetres in length and features a fastback roofline. Its public debut is scheduled for the 29th Chengdu Motor Show, running from 21 to 30 August in Sichuan province. The Da Han follows the Da Tang SUV, launched in June at prices between 239,900 and 309,900 yuan, which BYD claims is the world’s longest-range full-size SUV at 950 kilometres. Together, the two models are designed to anchor the Dynasty range in the premium space.

Dividend Payment Confirmed for Late July
While the product news grabs headlines, a more immediate event awaits BYD’s register of shareholders. The company will pay a final dividend of 0.358 renminbi per share for the 2025 financial year on 31 July. Investors who were on the register as of 18 June are eligible, with the ex-dividend date having passed on 11 June and the books closed between 15 and 18 June. Shareholders can elect to receive the payment in either renminbi or Hong Kong dollars.
Global Expansion Accelerates on Multiple Fronts
Beyond the flagship launch and dividend, BYD is pushing hard into overseas markets. In Australia, a strategic leasing partnership with Smart — a specialist in salary-sacrifice and novated leasing — will give roughly 2.5 million public-sector and corporate employees access to BYD and DENZA EVs. The deal, signed over the weekend, integrates the vehicles into purchasing processes and allows buyers to benefit from Australian EV tax incentives at the point of sale. The timing is opportune: BYD Australia sold 52,335 vehicles in the first half of 2026, more than double the year-ago figure.
In Brazil, the Camaçari factory recently produced its 100,000th vehicle, a Dolphin Mini, and is targeting an annual capacity of 150,000 units. Malaysia will see the launch of the Sealion 7 on 30 July, featuring larger battery packs and an 800-volt architecture in selected variants. In Germany, BYD’s “Summer Offensive” runs until 31 August, offering bonuses of up to €3,000 on its model range to gain European market share.
BYD at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Stock Recovers From a Weak Start to the Year
The Frankfurt-listed shares have staged a notable recovery over the past month, climbing roughly 20 per cent to trade around €9.90. That still leaves the stock more than 30 per cent below its 52-week high of €14.25 from July 2025, and the year-to-date performance remains negative at minus 7.29 per cent. The recent rebound coincides with a flurry of international expansion news, even as competition in BYD’s home market stays intense and price-sensitive.
For investors, the next few weeks offer two clear milestones: the dividend payment at the end of July, and the Chengdu show in August, where the market’s reception of the Da Han will provide the first real test of BYD’s premium ambitions.
