Circus SE has slashed its 2026 revenue guidance from a range of €44–55 million to just €5.2 million, a move that sent the stock into a tailspin and triggered sharp downgrades from two independent research houses. The company also widened its expected EBITDA loss from €6–8 million to around €17 million, blaming delayed system deliveries and operational scaling issues that have pushed the break-even horizon into the 2030s.

The market reaction was brutal. On the day of the announcement, shares collapsed more than 50% from €4.94 to €2.40, and the selling continued in the following sessions. By the end of the week, the stock had fallen a further 13.63% to close at €2.15, and it has since edged down to €2.12, according to Montega data. The 30-day loss now stands at roughly 66%, and Circus’s market capitalisation has shrunk to just under €56 million.

Analyst reactions diverged sharply in magnitude. Montega’s Bastian Brach cut his rating from Buy to Hold and lowered the price target from €10.00 to €2.20, noting that the planned system rollout had been scaled back from 200 units to just 50. Dr. Oliver Wojahn of mwb research was more aggressive in his downgrade, slashing the target from €46.00 to €8.40 while moving the rating from Buy to Speculative Buy. Both analysts pointed to the widening financing risk and the delay in achieving profitability, with Montega explicitly warning that the financial hole may force dilutive capital raises.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Circus?

Amid the rout, Circus’s CEO Dr. Jan-Christian Heins disclosed a purchase of company shares under a directors’ dealings notice. Insider buying is often read as a vote of confidence in the long-term strategy, though many observers view it as a modest signal given the scale of the guidance miss. The move did little to arrest the stock’s slide.

Operationally, Circus has not been idle. The company completed its acquisition of Belgian food-robotics firm Alberts in early July and announced the operational launch of Circus Defence, a subsidiary tasked with autonomously supplying Ukrainian ground forces. It also secured ECAS certification for its autonomous food-robotics systems in the United Arab Emirates, paving the way for a planned market entry there in September 2026. These milestones, however, have failed to offset the damage from the revenue warning.

For investors, the calculus remains deeply uncertain. The drastically lowered top-line and earnings targets have shattered the growth narrative that once commanded a market valuation many times higher. The scaled-back deployment of 50 systems raises questions about whether the company can generate enough revenue to cover rising costs, while the CEO’s insider purchase suggests management still believes in the underlying technology. The coming quarters will test whether the new strategic priorities — battlefield logistics, Gulf market entry, and a reduced rollout — can restore credibility, or whether the financing gap will force existing shareholders to accept further dilution.
