Circus SE's €5.2 Million Revenue Warning Triggers Downgrades and C-Suite Reshuffle

Circus SE has slashed its full-year revenue forecast by more than 90%, cutting its 2026 target from an original range of €44 million–€55 million to just €5.2 million. The dramatic revision, disclosed on July 16, also widened the expected EBITDA loss from €6 million–€8 million to roughly €17 million. The announcement sent shares into a tailspin, extending a rout that has wiped more than 56% off the stock in seven trading sessions and left the company's market capitalization at approximately €55.9 million.
The scale of the guidance cut reflects deep operational hurdles in scaling Circus's autonomous kitchen systems. The company pointed to bottlenecks in ingredient logistics and high personnel costs at newly deployed units, which have prevented the business from achieving economic unit economics. The €5.2 million revenue projection nonetheless represents an increase from the €1.6 million reported in 2025, though the gap between earlier ambitions and current reality has unnerved investors. The €17 million EBITDA loss for 2026 underscores how far the group remains from profitability.
Analysts responded swiftly. Montega AG downgraded Circus from "Buy" to "Hold" on July 20 and slashed its price target from €10.00 to €2.20, citing unresolved challenges in scaling the business model. The previous day, mwb research had already cut its target from €46.00 to €8.40 and lowered its rating from "Buy" to "Speculative Buy" — a clear signal that the risk profile has escalated sharply. The bearish calls followed a symbolic insider purchase by Dr. Jan-Christian Heins, who bought shares worth around €411, an amount seen as too small to shift market sentiment.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Circus?
The technical picture is equally stark. The 14-day relative strength index has sunk to 13.4, deep in oversold territory, reflecting a sustained wave of selling pressure. Over the past month, the stock has lost more than two-thirds of its value, and the weekly decline alone approaches 60%. Despite the carnage, management insists the company is "sufficiently financed" to weather the current phase and execute its planned rollout ramp-up in 2027.
Amid the financial turmoil, Circus has made tangible operational progress. In Ukraine, the company launched live operations of its autonomous food systems with the 3rd Army Corps of the Ukrainian Ground Forces near Kyiv, following certification by the state food safety service. The deployment marks the first use of such technology in an active conflict zone and is intended as a proof-of-concept for extreme conditions. Separately, Circus received regulatory approval for the United Arab Emirates and began commercial rollout in Abu Dhabi. The company also took full control of Belgian food robotics firm Alberts and secured the patents and software of Kitchen Robotics, positioning for a U.S. market entry in the second half of 2026.
Circus has also reshuffled its C-suite. Nikolas Bullwinkel assumed the role of sole CEO, while former co-CEO Claus Holst Gydesen moved to the advisory board. Fabian Becker departed from the executive team. At the same time, the company appointed Christian Bauer — a veteran from the aviation and automotive industries — as co-CEO and CFO. Bauer's experience in highly regulated sectors is expected to professionalize the manufacturing and international sales of the "CA-1" robotic systems.
Whether the leadership overhaul and battlefield milestones can restore investor confidence remains an open question. The company faces a pivotal test at its annual general meeting on August 20, 2026, where shareholders will scrutinize the path forward. For now, the disconnect between operational achievements and the financial reality is as wide as it has ever been.
