Circus SE has delivered one of the year's most dramatic forecast revisions, slashing its 2026 revenue guidance from a range of €44 million to €55 million down to just €5.2 million — a cut of roughly 90% announced on 16 July 2026. The robotics company simultaneously widened its expected EBITDA loss from €6–8 million to approximately €17 million, attributing the move to a deliberate deferral of system deliveries into 2027 aimed at sharpening unit economics.

The market reacted swiftly. Shares closed at €2.15, representing a weekly decline of 54.69%, with the 14-day relative strength index plunging to 14.0 — deep in oversold territory. Market capitalisation has shrunk to €55.87 million, a fraction of previous valuations. In early pre-market trading the stock edged up 3.94% to €2.24, but the broader picture remains bleak.

Analysts were quick to adjust. Dr. Oliver Wojahn of mwb research cut his price target on the stock from €46.00 to €8.40 and downgraded his rating from "Buy" to "Speculative Buy" on 16 July, acknowledging that the new guidance had upended the growth narrative that had supported the earlier recommendation. A previous "Buy" call confirmed just ten days earlier, on 6 July, was rendered obsolete overnight.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Circus?

Yet amid the financial turmoil, Circus SE continues to rack up operational milestones. On the same day as the guidance cut, the company confirmed the start of live operations for its autonomous food technology with the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian ground forces near Kyiv, following certification by Ukraine's State Service for Food Safety. That deployment gives the company a rare real-world combat testing ground for its robotic troop-supply systems.

Elsewhere, Circus SE has been expanding its footprint. Early July saw the completion of the acquisition of Belgian food-robotics firm Alberts, alongside receipt of ECAS certification for commercial rollout of its CA-1 Series 4 kitchen system in Abu Dhabi. The company had already closed the takeover of US-Israeli robotics firm K-Robotics at the end of April, securing more than 30 patents and pulling forward its US market entry to the second half of 2026.

The corporate shake-up extends to the C-suite. Nikolas Bullwinkel now serves as sole CEO, while former co-CEO Claus Holst Gydesen moves to chair the advisory board. CFO Fabian Becker exits the management board to join the supervisory board of subsidiary Circus Defence. Just days earlier, on 6 July, the company announced the appointment of Christian Bauer — formerly of Volocopter and Daimler — as new co-CEO and CFO effective July 2026, filling a leadership gap that had been flagged publicly.

Circus SE's financial foundation was already under strain. The audited annual report for 2025, published in June, showed revenue of just €1.5 million against an operating loss of €15.3 million. To shore up liquidity, the company placed a first asset-backed bond via FINEXITY in April and signed a framework agreement for up to €50 million in future financing — a cushion that now looks all the more critical given the dramatically lowered revenue base for 2026.
