DroneShield Adds Admiral to Board and Wins $24.9M US Contract, Yet Stock Sheds a Quarter of Its Value in a Month

DroneShield's share price falls 27% despite $24.9M US contract, board boost, and global anti-drone market growth. Is the sell-off overdone?

DroneShield is caught in a curious paradox. The counter-drone specialist continues to land major contracts and strengthen its boardroom firepower, yet its share price has been in freefall — losing roughly 27% since the start of the year and over a quarter of its value in the past month alone. At around €1.44, the stock now trades a painful 60% below the 52-week high of €3.65 set in October last year.

The mismatch between operational momentum and market sentiment is stark. The global anti-drone market, currently valued at nearly $3 billion, is expected to explode to more than $11 billion by 2030 — a compound annual growth rate of about 26%. DroneShield has already seeded its technology in over 70 countries, and its sales pipeline has swollen to more than 300 projects with a combined potential value of $2.2 billion.

Just weeks ago, the company signed a five-year framework agreement worth up to $24.9 million with the U.S. Joint Interagency Task Force 401, America’s central coordinating body for counter-drone operations. At least $10 million of that total is expected to be booked as revenue in the current fiscal year 2026. The deal covers mobile and fixed counter-drone systems, hardware, maintenance and services. It follows hard on the heels of another order worth roughly $22 million from a Western military alliance.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying DroneShield?

On the governance front, DroneShield announced that Rear Admiral Lee Goddard will join the board as an independent non-executive director effective July 1, 2026. With more than three decades of experience in defence, national security and procurement, Goddard is expected to sharpen the company’s engagement with allied governments and defence customers. Chairman Hamish McLennan described his appointment as a significant boost to DroneShield’s global expansion efforts.

The company is also deepening its footprint in Europe. A new initiative kicked off in Poland late last month, aimed at lining up local manufacturing and technology partners. The goal is to build a more resilient supply chain inside the European Union, reducing dependence on centralised production hubs. With European defence budgets rising and geopolitical tensions simmering, the timing appears well-judged. A local presence enables faster deliveries and helps meet national content requirements in tenders.

Despite these tailwinds, the share price chart tells a different story. The stock has sliced through its key moving averages — the 50-day line at €1.89 and the 200-day average at €2.05 are both far above current levels. The relative strength index sits at 35.9, signalling that the shares are approaching oversold territory. That may offer a faint glimmer for contrarians, but the persistent selling pressure reflects deeper investor concerns.

The dilemma for shareholders is whether the current enterprise value of roughly €1.3 billion adequately captures the risks — erratic order flow, growing competition from larger defence contractors — or whether it discounts the long-term potential of a niche player in a security-critical industry. The half-year results due later this year will serve as an early check on whether the promised revenue from the recent US contract and the European supply chain strategy can begin to close the gap between a booming market and a battered stock.
