Futura Medical has reshuffled its American market strategy for its flagship erectile dysfunction gel Eroxon, severing ties with consumer giant Haleon in favour of a more hands-on partnership with the Market Performance Group (MPG). The move sent shares sharply higher, with the stock spiking over 35% to 0.42 GBP on the announcement. The initial euphoria later cooled, leaving the stock up roughly 19.32% on the day — a welcome reversal after a 31.75% drubbing over the prior month.

To exit the old contract ahead of schedule, the company will make a one-time payment of $1.9 million to Haleon. Starting in September 2026, MPG will take over all sales and marketing for Eroxon in the United States. Management’s stated aim is to regain tighter control over brand positioning in the intensely competitive sexual health category, while leaning on MPG’s distribution muscle for operational execution. The deal marks a clear departure from the earlier reliance on a large conglomerate partner.

Beyond the near-term commercial overhaul, the pipeline is showing promise. Futura’s developmental women’s health gel, WSD4000, which targets hypoactive sexual desire disorder, delivered encouraging results from a home-use study involving 228 participants. Seventy-eight percent of women reported a tangible improvement in their sexual function. A separate placebo-controlled trial demonstrated a statistically significant advantage over the dummy treatment, with benefits seen in both pre- and post-menopausal women.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Futura Medical?

The clinical road map calls for a pivotal Phase 3 study to kick off before the end of 2026 — funding permitting. Success in that trial would open the door to a potential US and European launch in early 2028. The financing requirement is the key near-term hurdle, and investors are watching closely to see whether the company can secure the capital needed to take WSD4000 across the regulatory finish line.

Meanwhile, Futura is not standing still on the patent front. The company is appealing a decision by the European Patent Office to revoke a patent covering MED3000 — the same active ingredient as Eroxon. The patent remains in force while the appeal is pending, buying the company time to protect its intellectual property in its largest markets.

With the US distribution overhaul now locked in and a late-stage women’s health trial on the horizon, Futura Medical enters a period where execution on both the commercial and clinical sides will determine whether the stock can sustain its recent rebound. The next several months will be shaped by the dual challenges of funding the Phase 3 study and proving that the MPG alliance can deliver the market penetration that Haleon’s machinery did not.
