A cube-shaped building with a central courtyard now houses medical clinics, a gym, and telemedicine services for the entire workforce of pump manufacturer Wilo at its Dortmund headquarters. The Health Cube, inaugurated at the end of 2025, is the latest piece of a broader campus expansion that has absorbed more than €400?million in investment.
The three-storey structure covers 5,400?square metres and was designed by architecture firm a•sh architekten. Construction started in December 2023 and wrapped up on schedule. The building is chasing two gold sustainability certifications: DGNB Gold from the German Sustainable Building Council and LEED Gold, an internationally recognised standard for green construction. Its central courtyard provides natural light and ventilation, boosting both occupant comfort and energy efficiency.
Wilo's Health Cube bundles medical care, fitness equipment, and telemedicine applications in one location, letting employees access a broad range of services without leaving the campus. The company describes the facility as a core sub-project of the Wilopark expansion, which it has spent more than €400?million developing.
Making employee health a priority goes beyond on-site facilities — UK employers also need documented safety procedures to stay compliant with current regulations. A free Health & Safety Toolkit provides ready-to-use risk assessments, checklists, and templates covering the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH, and more. The initiative reflects a growing trend among German businesses to invest in on-site health centres. Unlike public medical centres found in towns such as Lehrte or Höxter, Wilo's offering concentrates on prevention and making the company more attractive as an employer, with everything available directly at the workplace.
