Comfort-focused long-haul cab

The Mercedes-Benz Actros is the heavy-duty long-haul truck line from Daimler Truck that targets long-distance transport fleets between roughly 18 and 40 tonnes gross vehicle weight. Inside the latest generation cab, drivers get the Multimedia Cockpit with dual digital displays instead of classic analogue instruments. The cab is available in several variants such as StreamSpace, BigSpace and GigaSpace, with up to around 2.50 meters interior width depending on configuration.

The current Actros generation includes extended seat adjustment ranges and options like climate-controlled seats to reduce fatigue on long shifts. A flat or almost flat cab floor in the larger variants helps drivers move easily between seat and bunk, while a bunk up to about 2.20 meters long gives space for overnight rest. Efficient diesel and assistance tech

Under the cab floor, many Actros variants use the OM 471 or OM 473 diesel engines that cover power outputs roughly between 310 and 625 horsepower depending on specification. Daimler Truck highlights fuel consumption reductions versus previous generations from measures like improved turbochargers, combustion optimization and predictive powertrain control. The standard fully automated PowerShift transmission aims to keep engine speed in an efficient band and reduce stress for drivers in dense traffic or on hills.

On the safety side, the Actros line offers advanced assistance such as Active Brake Assist 5, which can automatically apply full braking on stationary and moving obstacles and can recognize pedestrians under certain conditions. Lane Keeping Assist and Attention Assist help reduce unintentional lane departures or microsleep incidents. The optional MirrorCam system replaces conventional exterior mirrors with cameras and interior displays, improving aerodynamics and providing wider fields of view especially in rain and at night.

Digital services and connectivity

Like most current Daimler trucks, the Actros connects to the Fleetboard and Mercedes-Benz Uptime telematics platforms for predictive maintenance and fleet monitoring. Operators can view fuel consumption, driver behavior and vehicle status in back-office dashboards, and workshop visits can be planned before failures occur. Mercedes-Benz Truck CEO Karin Rådström often points to connected services as a growing profit pool alongside hardware sales.

Over-the-air software updates for certain control units further reduce workshop downtime, as functions can be patched or updated while the truck is parked at the depot. Navigation data and map updates for the Multimedia Cockpit can also be refreshed digitally, helping drivers avoid low bridges and restricted routes on their current itinerary.

Within Daimler Truck's European portfolio, the Actros family sits as the core long-haul diesel line above distribution-focused models like the Atego and alongside alternative drivetrain offerings such as the battery-electric eActros.
