After a staggering 800% surge over twelve months, Micron Technology has reached a crossroads that will be defined by a single report on June 24. The memory-chip maker now trades at €966.20, less than 1% below its all-time high of €975.00 set just this week. The rally has been relentless, with the stock gaining roughly 259% since the start of the year alone. Yet beneath the euphoria, a note of caution is creeping in.

The engine of this historic run is the insatiable demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM), the specialized chips that power artificial-intelligence accelerators. Without HBM, today's most advanced AI systems simply cannot function. Micron has already sold out its entire HBM production capacity through 2026, locking in long-term revenue via forward supply agreements. This structural shift is also tightening the broader memory market: as factories pivot to complex HBM manufacturing, supply of conventional DRAM is constrained, and industry analysts expect prices for standard memory to rise by as much as 125% this year, with the squeeze likely to persist into 2028.

The company has been showcasing its capabilities on the conference circuit. At the HPE Discover event in Las Vegas, which runs until June 18, CEO Antonio Neri has put networking and hybrid cloud at the center of the narrative — a natural stage for Micron's storage solutions. Earlier this month, at Computex, the company unveiled new AI-focused memory products, including data-center SSDs and its latest HBM offerings. These appearances reinforce the image of a company no longer selling commodity parts but rather acting as a critical bottleneck in the AI infrastructure buildout.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Micron?

Technically, the stock still looks robust. The relative strength index sits at 69, indicating strong momentum without entering overbought territory. But the single-minded focus on HBM and AI has driven the market capitalization to nearly one trillion euros. That lofty valuation has prompted a measured response from the analyst community. The average price target on Micron stands at just €713 — a discount of roughly 24% from current levels. The message is clear: the stock is priced for perfection.

That leaves Micron with almost no room for error. On June 24, the company will report results for its fiscal third quarter, and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra has already set the bar high, promising significant new records after a string of best-ever quarters. If the numbers confirm that operating reality matches market expectations, the current rally may find a solid base for further gains. But any shortfall could trigger a sharp reversal. The conference stage has been set; now the numbers must speak.
