Nebius Shares Recover Despite Meta Cloud Threat and Revenue Concentration

A Friday rebound to €194.00 (+2.79%) offered Nebius shareholders some respite after a turbulent week, but the real test lies ahead. The sell-off was sparked by unconfirmed reports that Meta Platforms — by far the company's largest customer — is developing its own cloud infrastructure under the codename "Meta Compute." On a weekly basis, the stock still lost 8.32%, and over the past month it has shed 10.62%. Its 52-week high of €261.00 from June now stands 25.67% above the current price, while the 52-week low of €38.00 from July 2025 underscores the extreme range the shares have traversed.

The core issue for Nebius is a staggering concentration of revenue. Its published backlog totals $46 billion, of which $27 billion comes from Meta and another $17 billion from Microsoft. That leaves little room for error if either hyperscaler shifts strategy. Options positioning is moderately bearish, reflecting the market's nervousness about the company's dependence on a handful of giants. Analysts are split: Roth considers the sell-off overdone, while others question which "neocloud" providers would suffer most if hyperscaler demand rotates toward internal builds.

Ahead of an industry summit on July 8-9 where management plans to unveil new software aimed at attracting clients beyond the hyperscaler universe, Nebius is effectively defending its valuation at a critical technical level. The stock closed just 1.88% above its 50-day moving average of €190.42. The 200-day average sits much lower at €115.82, highlighting how strong the rally has been despite the recent jitters. The 14-day RSI of 44.8 leaves room for movement in either direction, and with annualized 30-day volatility above 105%, sudden swings are the norm.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?

Against that backdrop, the company’s operating numbers are undeniably strong. In the first quarter of 2026, revenue exploded 684% year over year to $399 million. The adjusted EBITDA margin for its AI Cloud business nearly doubled sequentially to 45%, and full-year guidance remains around 40%. Management argues that the planned decline from the first-quarter peak does not signal cost pressure, but rather reflects confidence in contracted demand and the ability to secure necessary infrastructure. Already more than 75% of total energy capacity is locked in through proprietary contracts — a buffer against overreliance on any single customer.

The investment side of the story is ramping up too. Nebius raised its 2026 capital expenditure forecast sharply to $20–25 billion, citing enormous customer demand. That funding gap, however, makes the cash-flow outlook particularly sensitive to any pricing deterioration in the GPU market. The company’s high leverage to external capital markets adds another layer of risk, a point flagged by analysts who note that the P/E ratio, even after an 18% slide that brought the stock to $218, remains at 75.9 per Simply Wall St. Other observers peg it above 96, underlining the lack of consensus on valuation.

If the July summit delivers a credible plan to diversify the customer base, the extreme concentration risk could recede and the shares may stabilise near the 50-day line. Conversely, if Meta’s cloud ambitions crystallise into a real product or the summit disappoints, a break below current support could open the door to the 100-day moving average at €144.92. The market is pricing in binary outcomes — and for now, the 46-billion-dollar backlog provides a sturdy floor, but the key that unlocks the next leg of growth will be handed out on the eighth and ninth of July.
