The numbers are hard to ignore. Nebius posted first-quarter revenue of $399 million, a staggering 684% jump from a year earlier. Yet the Amsterdam-based cloud provider also reported an adjusted net loss of roughly $100 million, and its stock is whipsawing with a volatility reading north of 100%. The contradiction captures the tension at the heart of the Nebius story: explosive top-line momentum battling persistent costs, insider skepticism, and the looming shadow of Big Tech.

Shares recovered 4.27% on Thursday to €198.30, narrowing the gap to the 52-week high of €261 to 24%. The move followed a 17% single-day plunge on July 1, triggered by reports that Meta Platforms is exploring its own cloud business for AI workloads. The logic behind the sell-off was straightforward: Meta is one of Nebius's largest customers, and a rival cloud offering would both reduce that dependency and turn a client into a competitor.

The recovery came just as quickly, driven by a reassessment from analysts. SemiAnalysis argued the market misread Meta's strategy, suggesting the social-media giant's own surging compute needs are more likely to create additional opportunities for third-party providers like Nebius than to displace them. Roth Capital separately called the sell-off overdone, noting Meta's internal AI demand will likely absorb its capacity for years. Thursday's bounce suggests investors are leaning toward that view — for now.

But beneath the headline volatility, a more troubling signal persists. Over the past six months, Nebius has recorded 35 separate insider stock sales, with participants including CEO Arkadiy Volozh and IT chief Andrey Korolenko. Not a single insider purchase has been made in the same period. While insider selling can stem from routine portfolio diversification, the scale and one-sided nature of the activity give pause to market participants watching the stock trade at roughly 70 times trailing revenue.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?

The company is betting heavily that future revenue will justify today's valuation. Nebius raised its 2026 capital expenditure forecast to $20-25 billion, up from a prior $16-20 billion range. Management insists the additional spending is tied to capacity expansions already secured under signed contracts for 2027, not speculation. By year-end, Nebius expects its total compute capacity to reach between 800 megawatts and one gigawatt. That build-out is backed by serious institutional capital: Nvidia invested $2 billion in the spring, and TTRF Capital recently built a position worth nearly $90 million, making it the hedge fund's largest holding.

Strategically, Nebius is trying to escape the commodity trap of pure GPU rental. In July it launched "Saturn Cloud", a self-service platform offering specialized AI infrastructure services. The pivot is critical: by moving up the stack, the company hopes to fend off price compression from hyperscalers flooding the market with raw compute.

Passive money is also lining up. Nebius is scheduled to join the Nasdaq-100 index on June 22, 2026, alongside Astera Labs, CoreWeave, Rocket Lab, and Teradyne. Index funds will be compelled to buy regardless of valuation, creating a structural bid that insulates the stock from some degree of sentiment-driven selling.

Nebius at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Technically, the shares are in a delicate spot. The current price sits just 1.37% above the 50-day moving average of €195.63, while the 200-day average at €117.49 is a full 68.78% below — a sign of how violently the re-rating has outpaced the longer-term trend line. The 14-day relative strength index stands at 48.2, neutral after a week of sharp swings. Support at €117 remains the critical floor; a break below that level could accelerate losses.

For now, buyers are defending the elevated price range, but the fundamental question remains unresolved. Nebius has set a revenue target of $24.5 billion by 2029 — a nearly 60-fold increase from current levels. That ambition requires the AI infrastructure boom to remain a story of scarcity, not oversupply. With hyperscalers pushing aggressively into the same space and insider confidence seemingly lukewarm, the stock's own violent course — from €38 twelve months ago to €261 in June and back to €198 — reflects a market still far from a verdict.
