Nemetschek Hits New 52-Week Low Despite 17% Revenue Growth and Margin Strength

The gap between operating reality and market perception is widening sharply for Nemetschek. The German software group posted double-digit revenue growth, surging subscription income, and fatter profit margins in the first quarter, yet its shares have been hammered relentlessly. The stock closed Friday at €52.60, a modest gain on the day but still deep in the red. The damage on the year so far stands at roughly 42%, and at one point during the session the price touched a fresh 52-week trough of €50.45.
A glance at the fundamental picture tells a very different story. In the three months to March, sales climbed 17% to €313.1 million, powered by a 35% leap in software-as-a-service revenues. That momentum flowed straight through to the bottom line: operating profit advanced nearly 30% to €98.4 million, handing the company an operating margin of 31.4%. Management is sticking with its full-year targets, calling for top-line growth of around 15% and a margin comfortably above 32%.
So why the sell-off? Analysts point to a toxic mix of sector-wide headwinds and technical damage. European technology names are being dumped as investors question the near-term profitability of artificial intelligence investments, while the broader construction industry – Nemetschek’s core end market – continues to grapple with sluggish demand and geopolitical uncertainty. The regulatory environment is adding to the pain: complex sustainability-reporting rules are slowing bank lending, which in turn crimps spending on building and software projects.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nemetschek?
The chart offers little reassurance. The share price now trades more than a third below its 200-day moving average of €78.78. That gap underscores how decisively the downtrend has broken through long-term support. The relative strength index has dipped to 34.5, skirting the oversold threshold and raising the possibility of a short-term technical bounce. But for longer-term holders, the trajectory remains bearish. The all-time high of roughly €138, set last August, now looks a distant memory, and the stock has shed nearly 62% from that peak.
The market will now be watching the €50.45 level as a critical floor. A sustained break below that support could trigger another wave of selling. The next major catalyst arrives on July 30, when Nemetschek releases its half-year results. If the company can again demonstrate its operational strength, the narrative may begin to shift back toward its underlying growth story. Until then, the divergence between a healthy balance sheet and a beaten-down share price looks set to persist.
