Nvidia’s Physics AI Push and $1 Billion Naver Stake Signal a Two-Pronged Strategy Shift

Nvidia is quietly rewriting its playbook, moving beyond its reputation as a premium GPU supplier to embed itself as the architect of entire AI ecosystems. Two developments this week — a major software overhaul and a confirmed billion-dollar equity stake in a Korean internet giant — underscore a strategy that aims to lock in customers through both code and capital.
Software Agents Take Over Chip Design
The chipmaker has rolled out updated PhysicsNeMo libraries and CUDA-X solver tools, integrating them directly into its Agent Toolkit. The idea is to train autonomous AI agents capable of handling complex physics simulations and quantum chemistry calculations — tasks that typically bog down the semiconductor design cycle.
Nvidia’s own research agent, ACE-RTL, which runs on the Nemotron 3 Ultra model, has already demonstrated leading performance in automated register-transfer level coding, a critical step in chip design. But the real proof of concept comes from external partners. Cadence, Synopsys, and Siemens have all optimized their electronic design automation suites for Nvidia’s new Vera processor architecture. According to the companies, logic simulation and formal verification tools run up to 1.5 times faster on Vera CPUs than on previous hardware.
In a separate collaboration, Nvidia worked with the Silvaco Group on digital twins for semiconductor manufacturing. Using PhysicsNeMo and CUDA-X, Silvaco simulated a 3D photonic edge coupler with 3.2 billion mesh nodes. The calculation took less than four hours on 32 GPUs — a task that had previously failed to converge on conventional CPU systems.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?
Naver Stake Confirmed, $10 Billion Data Center Plan Takes Shape
On Monday, South Korean internet conglomerate Naver filed a mandatory disclosure with Seoul regulators, confirming that Nvidia has taken a $1 billion equity stake in the company. Nvidia receives 7.2 million newly issued shares, representing roughly a 4.5% ownership interest.
The agreement itself was signed Friday during the AI Summit in San Francisco, but the regulatory filing made it official. The investment is part of a broader push into South Korea’s AI infrastructure. Alongside investment giant Brookfield, Nvidia plans to inject $10 billion into expanding the GAK Sejong data center. By 2028, the facility is expected to reach 200 megawatts of capacity, powered by Nvidia’s Vera Rubin and Blackwell architectures. The stated goal: give South Korea a sovereign AI infrastructure independent of foreign cloud providers.
Stock Hovers Near Highs, Earnings and Big-Tech Capex in Focus
Nvidia shares closed Friday at €182.00, down 0.80% on the day, but the stock remains 9.56% above its 200-day moving average of €166.11 — a sign the long-term uptrend is intact. The current price of €183.50 sits roughly 9% below the 52-week high of €202.50 reached on May 14, 2026, and more than 10% above the 200-day average of €166.24, according to separate data. The recovery from the September 2025 low of €139.78 has been substantial.
Nvidia at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
The relative strength index stands at 52.6, signaling neither overbought nor oversold conditions. Investors appear to be digesting the software news and the Korea deal before making their next move.
This week could provide the catalyst. Microsoft and Meta are set to report quarterly earnings, and both are among Nvidia’s largest hardware customers. Their capital expenditure budgets for AI infrastructure will offer a direct read on whether demand for Nvidia’s combined chip-and-software package is accelerating. Nvidia’s own next quarterly report is scheduled for August 26, 2026, by which point the market will have a clearer picture of whether the new Agent Toolkit features are translating into higher software revenue — or whether the EDA partnerships remain a strategic preamble.
