A flurry of high-level visits and a push into offshore rocket launches have placed OHB SE firmly at the center of European space ambitions, even as its shares trade nearly 39% below last month’s levels. The Bremer Raumfahrt- und Rüstungskonzern is balancing a strategic upgrade in its relationship with the European Space Agency (ESA) against the mechanical drag of a recently completed capital raise.

Laurent Jaffart, ESA’s Director for Resilience, Navigation and Connectivity, visited OHB’s headquarters in Bremen on July 18, 2026, to discuss how Europe can strengthen the resilience and sovereignty of its space capabilities. Just four days earlier, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius had also toured the facility, underscoring Berlin’s interest in satellite programs and strategic autonomy in space. Together, the visits signal that OHB is increasingly seen as a key industrial partner for both European and national security initiatives.

Meanwhile, the company is exploring unconventional launch infrastructure. Mid-July brought news that OHB is evaluating a sea-based launch ramp in the North Sea, an alternative to traditional spaceports. While no timeline or specific rocket systems have been disclosed, the move would complement OHB’s existing portfolio in satellite platforms and defense-related reconnaissance systems.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying OHB SE?

These strategic developments follow a busy summer on the financing front. At the end of June, OHB placed new shares worth 482 million euros. That placement was linked to financial investor KKR and was quickly followed by a cooperation agreement with the Schwarz Group. A second tranche, which closed in early July and raised approximately 484 million euros on a gross basis, was admitted to trading on July 14. The total inflow of fresh equity has given the company ample firepower to pursue growing European demand for space capabilities, but it has also weighed on the stock.

The share price has corrected sharply from a 52-week high of 688.00 euros, closing the week at 241.00 euros — down 38.91% over the past 30 days. The decline reflects the typical dilution and profit-taking that accompanies large capital increases after a spectacular rally. Year-to-date, the stock is still up roughly 106%, underscoring that the recent move is more a correction than a structural breakdown.

From a technical standpoint, the selling may be exhausting itself. The Relative Strength Index has dipped to 32.2, a level often considered oversold. The stock now trades just 1.45% above its 200-day moving average of 237.56 euros, a key support level that chart watchers will be monitoring closely in the sessions ahead. Whether that level holds could determine if the correction stabilizes or deepens further.

For investors, the picture is nuanced: operational catalysts such as ESA backing and novel launch concepts sit alongside the near-term headwinds of a diluted shareholder base and elevated volatility. How the market weighs these forces in the coming weeks will likely hinge on further news surrounding the North Sea launch plans and the pace of order intake under Europe’s rearmament-driven space agenda.
