Investors in Refined Energy have been rewarded with a sharp share price rebound, but the real test is yet to come. The junior uranium explorer wrapped up the week at €0.27, notching an 11% gain over five sessions and a daily advance of nearly 8%. That rally brings the stock precisely to its 200-day moving average—a threshold traders watch closely. Yet the market is now in a holding pattern: the company’s very first batch of assay results from the Dufferin West project is imminent, and those numbers will determine whether the bulls stick around.

The immediate catalyst for the share price uptick is the completion of the winter drilling program on the Dufferin West property in Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Basin. The team successfully intersected the targeted unconformity at a depth of 312 metres in one hole (DW26-001) and hit a graphitic conductor with breccia at 381 metres in another. Two brecciated fault zones were also encountered. In this prolific uranium district, such structures are the hallmark of potential mineralisation—but without geochemical assays, they remain only geological clues. Core logging is finished, and samples have been shipped to an accredited lab. To speed things up, management has ordered rush analyses on selected intervals.

On the technical side, the stock’s Relative Strength Index has climbed to 76.9, pushing into overbought territory. That often signals that a short-term pullback could be brewing, especially given the volatility trailing the name—around 80% annualised. Another supportive factor passed quietly: the expiry of the lock-up on more than 1.4 million warrants from an earlier financing round. With an exercise price of C$1.05—far above the current Canadian-dollar equivalent—those instruments are worthless, removing a dilutive overhang that had weighed on sentiment. Nonetheless, the stock remains roughly 25% below its level a year ago.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Refined Energy?

The macro backdrop continues to offer a tailwind. The spot uranium price stood near US$86 per pound at the start of May, while long-term contract prices hit their highest level in nearly two decades during the first quarter. The strongest demand driver may come from the technology sector: operators of large data centres are increasingly turning to small modular reactors to meet surging power needs. In January, the U.S. government underlined its commitment with multi-billion-dollar funding pledges for uranium enrichment. That policy support is filtering through to juniors like Refined Energy, which holds an option to acquire up to three-quarters of the Dufferin project from Eagle Plains Resources, alongside earlier-stage stakes in the Basin and Milner properties.

If the lab results come back positive, the company plans to move quickly. The next step would be a ground-based electromagnetic survey on the Milner project, a 1,000-hectare option block where additional drill targets need to be defined. For now, though, all eyes are on that assay report. It will decide whether Refined Energy’s recent rally is the beginning of a new uptrend or just a brief reprieve.
