Siemens Energy's Record Orders and Rebrand Fail to Convince as Shares Test a Key Moving Average

The fall comes despite the group reporting second-quarter order intake of €17.7 billion, a new company record, and lifting its full-year guidance for comparable revenue growth to between 14% and 16% with an operating margin of 10% to 12%.
The paradox of strong operations and a weakening share price has multiple explanations. One is the company's ongoing transformation into a new identity. Siemens Energy will be renamed Omterra by 2026, a move CEO Christian Bruch says is driven partly by the expiration of the Siemens brand license. The change goes deeper than marketing: the once-troubled wind turbine unit Siemens Gamesa is being fully integrated under the new banner. At the same time, the group is running a strategic review codenamed "Project Voyager" that could affect roughly 17,000 employees and may even result in the spin-off of an entire division to sharpen margins.
Investors are also contending with the gradual reduction of Siemens AG's stake in the company. Each block sale adds extra supply to the market, creating a persistent overhang. Meanwhile, analysts at Barclays have warned that the valuation may already reflect peak-cycle conditions. With a market capitalisation of €129.43 billion, much optimism is priced in — perhaps too much, given that the wind power division has yet to deliver a convincing turnaround.

Gamesa remains the wild card. Siemens Energy has made progress stabilising the business after quality problems on onshore turbine platforms triggered massive provisions earlier, but the unit has not yet proven it can generate sustainable profits. The rest of the group — Grid Technologies and Gas Services — is firing on all cylinders, with gas turbine production capacity nearly fully booked through 2028 and initial orders already on the books for 2030. A €2.5 billion converter project for the "North Sea Connector 2" grid link was recently won in a consortium.
On the charts, the stock is approaching a test of its 200-day moving average at €143.83, a level now just 0.82% below the current price. The relative strength index stands at 38.9, not yet in oversold territory but trending lower. Any decisive break below the 200-day line would signal a deeper correction, though the long-term picture remains positive: the shares are still up 20.43% year-to-date and 52.70% compared with a year ago. The 52-week high of €195.54, set on April 24, 2026, sits 25.85% above current levels.
Siemens Energy's order backlog has reached a record €154 billion, providing strong revenue visibility for years to come. Yet the market is looking beyond the headline numbers — at the complexity of the Omterra rebrand, the operational risk at Gamesa, and the distraction that Project Voyager could create. For the stock to close the gap between record orders and its share price, both the turnaround in wind power and an orderly unwinding of the Siemens stake will need to materialise as planned. Until then, the equity remains vulnerable to any fresh disappointment from its most stubborn problem child.
