Tesla shares, trading near 304 euros, are navigating a pivotal moment defined by two distinct but critical developments. While the stock remains roughly 27% below its 52-week high of 416.90 euros from December 2025, the company is advancing on both regulatory and manufacturing fronts as it approaches its quarterly financial report.

A significant breakthrough came from European regulators. On April 13, 2026, the Dutch vehicle authority RDW granted the first European approval for Tesla's "Full Self-Driving (Supervised)" system. This decision followed an 18-month testing phase covering 1.6 million kilometers on European roads. The approval, initially limited to the Netherlands, unlocks the system for approximately 100,000 eligible vehicles via an over-the-air update, available for a one-time fee of 7,500 euros or a monthly subscription of 99 euros. The RDW has submitted its findings for an EU-wide harmonized approval, which could enable a broader rollout by summer 2026.

Concurrently, Tesla is executing a major industrial promise. Since March 2026, full-scale series production of the electric Semi truck has commenced at a new factory adjacent to Gigafactory Nevada. This move transitions the project from a pilot phase to mass manufacturing, with an annual target of 50,000 units. Achieving this goal would capture an estimated 15 to 20 percent of the entire North American heavy-duty truck market. The operation leverages vertically integrated 4680 battery cells produced on-site, a strategy aimed at resolving past supply constraints. The new cell is 7% more efficient than its predecessor while maintaining a 500-mile range.

The company's financial health will come into sharper focus with the release of its full Q1 2026 results after the US market closes on April 22. Preliminary figures showed production of 408,386 vehicles and deliveries of 358,023 units for the quarter. The energy segment posted strong growth, with 8.8 GWh of energy storage products delivered. Sales performance was mixed geographically; US retail sales in Q1 reached 117,300 vehicles, outpacing the combined sales of GM, Ford, and Rivian. In contrast, retail sales in China fell 24.3% year-over-year in March 2026.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Tesla?

Analyst perspectives reflect this complex picture. UBS recently upgraded the stock from "Sell" to "Neutral," setting a price target of $352, suggesting a more balanced view of near-term risks and long-term potential. Bank of America maintains a more bullish stance with a $460 target, citing Tesla's potential cost advantage in a future robotaxi segment where autonomous vehicles could be produced for around $40,000.

Supporting its core initiatives, Tesla is expanding its dedicated Megawatt Charging network for the Semi, with 46 stations along key freight corridors slated for operation in 2026. Data from the existing pilot fleet, which has logged 7.9 million real-world miles, indicates the truck can achieve up to 1,000 miles in 24 hours with fast-charging infrastructure. The public debut of the production Semi is scheduled for the ACT Expo in Las Vegas from May 4-7, 2026.

The "Spring 2026 Update," launched on April 14, represents Tesla's most feature-rich seasonal software release to date. It introduces twelve new functions, including a dedicated FSD app for AI4/HW4 hardware, the "Hey Grok" voice assistant, and an expanded dashcam buffer capable of 24-hour recording. The European FSD software version (v14.2.2.5) includes stricter safeguards like enhanced driver monitoring and a mandatory safety quiz.

Tesla at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

These parallel strides in regulation and production provide concrete, though separate, anchors for Tesla's ambitious growth narratives in autonomy and commercial transport. The upcoming earnings report will offer crucial data on the financial impact and operational tempo of these strategic endeavors.
