The global market for humanoid robots is on track to swell from $4.2 billion this year to $40.5 billion by 2033, a compound annual growth rate of 38.2%, according to Grand View Research. Chinese players are expected to dominate the supply side, with the country's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology estimating that over half of the 400-plus humanoid robot models developed worldwide originate from China, while the nation accounts for roughly 70% of global robotics manufacturing revenue. Yet for Ubtech Robotics, a company positioned alongside Tesla, Figure AI, Boston Dynamics and Unitree Robotics in that growth narrative, the stock market is telling a different story.

The disconnect between product momentum and share price was underscored this week when analysis platform StockInvest.us slapped a "Strong Sell" rating on the stock, citing a broad downtrend devoid of buying support from underlying volume and an elevated risk profile from wide daily swings. Since the start of the year, the stock has shed 36.52%, with an additional 21.58% drop in the last 30 days alone. At €9.59 — up 4.93% on the day — it now sits 43.58% below its January peak of €17.00.

Those orders are for the UWORLD U1 series, the company's first consumer-oriented humanoid robot unveiled earlier this month. The life-sized machines, built with silicone skin, 88 servo joints and the ability to simulate roughly 300 micro-facial expressions, are designed as AI companions for elderly people and those living alone. Ubtech says pre-orders have already exceeded 13,361 units, with pricing ranging from 11.98 yuan to 99 million yuan depending on configuration. The U1 is the flagship product under the new UWORLD brand, part of CEO Zhou Jian's broader "human-robot symbiosis" strategy.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Ubtech Robotics?

Zhou made headlines at the company's global conference by declaring that robots will eventually perform all labor, urging people to "enjoy the last hours of drudgery." While the vision captures the imagination, the financials remain a work in progress. Revenue has climbed steadily from 1.047 billion yuan in fiscal 2023 to 1.295 billion in 2024 and 1.981 billion in 2025, while net losses have narrowed from 1.234 billion to 703 million yuan over the same period. Still, cumulative losses over the past three years exceed 3 billion yuan. Zhou himself ranks 1,022nd on the Hurun Rich List 2025 with a net worth of 7 billion yuan, a personal fortune that contrasts sharply with the company's persistent losses.

Against that backdrop, Ubtech is betting big on the consumer segment to complement its existing industrial robotics business. The company also recently announced a cooperation with Shenhao in the field of humanoid robots for power grid applications. China is expected to produce over 100,000 humanoid robots in 2026, providing a massive addressable market if Ubtech can convert its early order interest into sustained revenue.

For now, the stock remains a high-risk bet. With a 30-day annualized volatility of more than 82% (and roughly 81% according to other estimates), the shares are prone to sharp moves on any newsflow. Analysts caution that while product announcements generate short-term enthusiasm, the chart pattern continues to deteriorate. Whether the U1's order momentum translates into a meaningful revenue contribution in upcoming quarterly results will likely determine whether the stock can reverse its slide — or whether the gap between ambition and execution only widens.
